Setting the Scene
Over the past decade, Bulgaria’s infrastructure for business events has undergone a remarkable transformation. From state-of-the-art conference centres to multifunctional event venues, and from renovated cultural spaces to design-driven business hotels, the country is now home to a diverse and modern event ecosystem. These developments have significantly increased meeting and conference capacities in key cities such as Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, and Burgas, offering opportunities to host events of growing scale, complexity, and ambition.

In parallel, a new generation of event professionals is emerging—agencies, producers, experience designers, logistics experts, and tech providers—who work at an international level and bring knowledge, creativity, and discipline to every activation. Their work contributes not only to the organisation of business meetings, but also to emblematic events in Bulgaria’s cultural, corporate, academic, and institutional life. From tech summits and medical congresses to large-scale concerts and sports championships, the talent within the Bulgarian meetings and events industry has proven itself time and again.
At the same time, the broader event landscape in Bulgaria is becoming increasingly vibrant, with a growing number of forums, fairs, and initiatives in the tourism, hospitality, and general business spheres. These platforms add visibility and networking opportunities for some parts of the ecosystem, but what has been consistently missing is a dedicated, business-led, and sector-specific stage for the full breadth of the meetings industry.
Until now.
With EEI 2026 – EXPO Event Industry, we are establishing the first truly inclusive platform for the Bulgarian meetings and event ecosystem—by the industry, for the industry, and co-led by the official body representing it: the Bulgarian Convention Bureau (Bulgarian CVB). EEI 2026 is not another expo. It is a national convention, an exhibition, and a meeting point—bringing together event professionals, venues, suppliers, destinations, associations, academia, clients and institutional actors to shape the future of the industry together. And last, but not least, we are turning our first big anniversary, 10 years! Come along to celebrate Bulgarian CVB 10th birthday!
